Frequently Asked Questions
What's the character limit on Threads?
Threads posts have a 500 character limit for the main text. Since September 2025, you can add text attachments up to 10,000 characters that don't count toward this limit. You can also reply to your own posts to create threads.
How many images can I add to a Threads post?
You can add up to 10 photos or videos to a single Threads post in the app, shown as a swipeable carousel. Posts published through the Threads API, which scheduling tools use, can hold up to 20.
What image format works best on Threads?
4:5 portrait (1080×1350px) works best: Threads supports 1.91:1 to 9:16, but Meta's Threads feed spec crops anything taller than 4:5 to 4:5, so 9:16 images lose their top and bottom. Square 1:1 also works.
Can I edit Threads posts after publishing?
Yes. You can edit the text of a Threads post within 15 minutes of posting. After that you can only delete it, and attachments can't be added or removed.
